Ashoka

Aśoka is a 2001 Indian epic historical drama film directed and co-written by Santosh Sivan. It is a dramatized version of the early life of emperor Asoka, of the Maurya dynasty, who ruled most of the Indian subcontinent in the 3rd century BCE.
The film stars Shahrukh Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Danny Denzongpa, Ajith Kumar, Rahul Dev and Hrishita Bhatt. It was produced by Shahrukh Khan, Juhi Chawla and Radhika Sangoi. The screenplay was written by Santosh Sivan and Saket Chaudhary and the
dialogue by Abbas Tyrewala. It was originally released as Ashoka The Great in India. The Tamil release title is Samrat Ashoka.
The film was widely screened across the United Kingdom and North America, and was also selected for screening at the Venice Film Festival and the Toronto International Film Festival, where it got positive response. However, the film failed to please both Indian critics and the audience alike and flopped at the box office.

Citizen - Ajith Kumar 2001

Citizen is a 2001 Tamil film directed by Sharavanan Subbaiya and produced by S. S. Chakravarthy. The film features Ajith Kumar in the lead role as a social activist with Vasundhara Das, Meena and Nagma playing supporting roles. The film's score and soundtrack are composed by Deva, whilst cinematography was handled by Ravi K. Chandran. The film opened to positive reviews in June 2001 and became a decent hit at the box office.

Dheena is a 2001 Indian Tamil action film starring Suresh Gopi, Ajith Kumar and Laila in lead roles. It marks the directorial debut of A.R.Murugadoss. Ajith plays the title role of Dheena, while Suresh Gopi enacts the role of Ajith's older brother. The film, which had musical score by Yuvan Shankar Raja and cinematography by Arvind, was released on 14 January 2001 coinciding with Pongal 2001 to positive reviews and proved to be a box office success.
